Let’s Play Ball Saturday May 2, 2009

With the winter season behind us there’s a chill in the air, the snow is still a thought in our minds. The fields are now dry the clay is being prepared and the grass is everyday getting greener after a long winters nap. There’s a feeling in the air, a smell. What could it be it’s on the tip of the tong?

It’s the start of CHALLENGER LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL; this Saturday May 2, 2009 is the start of baseball. I know from past years that many of our players are excited to be playing ball. Most have probably been waiting, asking, begging to get out there and play, to see old friends and make new ones, to get out on the field and play.

It looks like Mother Nature is going to be a little kinder to us this year. As of Tuesday April 28, 2009 the forecast is for a high of 10 C, although this doesn’t sound great especially for the earlier times as it is going to be pretty cold (it sure does beat 18 inches of snow and every vehicle having a hard time getting out of the parking lot at Fire Park.)

Please remember that we are playing at an outdoor facility (Rotary Challenger Park) and will have to dress for the weather conditions (that includes spectators. A.K.A mom, dad, brothers, sisters and other guests.)
District #3 Little League will again be providing buddies. They have been a great supporter of Calgary Challenger Little League over the years. These are the kids and coaches (with the help of our volunteer coaches) that help out the athletes on the field. It is a learning experience for both the Challenger Athletes and the Little League athletes and coaches, because at the end of the day everyone is a Winner and the game is fun.
